Just finished a direct mail campaign to find distressed real estate for sale. I bought a list of people who were dismissed out of bankruptcy for not following the rules of their bankruptcy from 9/1/10 to 1/9/11. These are just those cases administrated out of the Camden, NJ district office. There are 3 offices in NJ. Assuming there is an effort to achieve an equal workload, this list is just one third for the whole state.
Guess how many. This doesn't include people who have successfully completed their bankruptcy or are currently in process. In just the last 4 months of 2010, 434 unique addresses had filed for bankruptcy and then got kicked out. Now they have no protection. So sad. Being a parent I can imagine their parents' hopes for their kids when they named them. One person's 1st name is Fortunato. That one got me.
Lots of people in financial pain out there. Some are our neighbors. But for the grace of G-d, there go I.
